We Miss You Miriam

Miriam Engelberg

1958 - 2006

On October 17, 2006, the CompassPoint family lost a wonderful staff member who died at age 48 after a long battle with cancer.

Miriam Engelberg worked at CompassPoint for 13 years. She was among the most popular trainers we've ever had. When she was on staff, her time was split among technology training, coaching to nonprofit staff on the use of technology, and support of CompassPoint's own internal technology.

Several years before leaving the staff due to a recurrence of cancer, she began drawing Planet 501c3--a comic strip about the nonprofit sector. You can view these wonderful comics at http://www.planet501c3.org. Everyone on staff loved Miriam; she was exceptionally caring, funny, and courageous.

In her last years she wrote a book of cartoons called Cancer Made Me A Shallower Person: a Memoir in Comics, published by Harper.

Many people who knew Miriam or were moved by her work have expressed an interest in making a donation in her memory. More information about how to do that and about her book can be found at her website
