The Annie E. Casey Foundation
The Annie E. Casey Foundation has committed resources to promoting awareness of succession planning as an opportunity for nonprofit oganizations to increase program effectiveness and long-term stability and sustainability. To forward this work, the Casey Foundation is partnering with the Executive Transitions program of CompassPoint Nonprofit Services.
In an effort to increase the number of succession planning services providers nationwide, the Casey Foundation is partially supporting a workshop for nonprofit consultants and coaches experienced in providing organization development, strategic planning, and/or transition consulting services who are interested in expanding their practice into the succession planning arena.
The curriculum is grounded in the many years of experience in leadership transitions garnered by the Executive Transitions consultants of CompassPoint.
Topics covered in the three-day workshop will include:
- Reviewing the major conceptual frameworks that guide the process and strategies for succession planning
- Preparing an organization for an unplanned departure through the development of an emergency succesion plan
- Assessing the succession readiness of an organization
- Supporting the departing ED in maning personal and professional barriers
- Conducting a sustainability audit
Participants will be provided a comprehensive Succession Planning Consultant Toolkit for taking clients through a succession plan.
Applications will be screened and participation offered to 20 consultants and coaches. The registration fee for the training is $900, which includes materials and breakfasts and lunches. Information on the training site and hotels will be provided to registrants.
