Strong Field Project
CompassPoint Nonprofit Services is honored to deliver a customized program for leaders in California organizations working to end domestic violence – the Leadership Development Program of Blue Shield of California Foundation’s Strong Field Project.
About the Strong Field Project
The Strong Field Project is a four-year effort, started in 2010, aimed at building a strong, coordinated network of domestic violence service providers in California. Blue Shield of California Foundation funding will provide grants, trainings, and other opportunities that support a critical mass of domestic violence organizations and leaders equipped to advance a stronger field. The Project will develop individual leadership skills, stronger organizations, and expanded networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities across the field.
Key organizations will help accomplish this work: CompassPoint Nonprofit Services (leadership development), Women's Foundation of California (grants to strengthen organizations), Jemmott Rollins Group (coordination, training, and field building), and the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence (a key strategic advisor).
About the Leadership Development Program
Building a strong and sustainable organization is an ongoing challenge for every nonprofit, and it is especially true for California’s domestic violence service organizations, which face compounding challenges on numerous fronts. As California’s population continues to grow in diversity, our economy shudders through recession, and client needs multiply in number and complexity, developing the capacity of, linkages among, and the support available to leaders working in the domestic violence field is more important than ever.
Based on recent studies reporting on the needs of emerging and veteran leaders and on our own experience working with hundreds of community based organizations, we understand that strong leadership coupled with strong management are critical in accomplishing maximum mission impact. This program will produce a critical mass of individuals equipped to inspire others, make smart business decisions, and consider new ways of service delivery.
