TRANSPORTATION

The San Francisco Bay Area offers a free resource for transportation information. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and on the Web at 511.org.

Air Travel
The hotel is accessible via two major airports: San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK). For flight schedules and fares, contact your local carrier or visit the airport’s website (below). SFO is approximately 30 minutes away from the hotel by taxi or 45 minutes by BART. OAK is approximately 45 minutes from the hotel by taxi (depending on Bay Bridge traffic) or one hour by BART.

Ground transportation options from the airports are detailed on their websites. There is no free airport shuttle to the Nikko. Commercial shuttles, such as Super Shuttle, provide service to the hotel for approximately $14-17 one way. One-way taxi fare between the hotel and SFO is approximately $35; between the hotel and OAK, approximately $55.

Both airports are also accessible via the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system. Please see the BART airport connections page for details.
 

Public Transportation
San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI) and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) both stop four blocks from the hotel at the Powell Station at Market & Powell streets. For BART schedules and connections, please see bart.gov. For MUNI maps and connections, please see here.

FROM BART & MUNI
1. Take any San Francisco-bound train to the Powell Street station.
2. Walk north on Powell Street to O’Farrell Street (three blocks).
4. Turn left at O’Farrell Street. The hotel will be on your left.

Purchase your tickets before you enter the BART or MUNI platform area from self-service ticket vending machines. MUNI fare is $2.00 per person anywhere within the system (timed transfers are available). Your BART fare is determined by the start and end point of your trip. The base fare is $1.75 per person. Please note that you must use your ticket enter and to leave the BART system.

FROM SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT & SOUTH BAY
1. Take US-101 North to I-80.
2. Take I-80 East toward Bay Bridge/Oakland/Seventh Street/US-101 North.
3. Exit at Seventh Street, proceed to Folsom Street and turn right.
5. Turn left onto Fifth Street.
6. Continue on Fifth Street, which becomes Cyril Magnin Street after you cross Market Street.
7. Turn left on Ellis Street and then turn right into hotel’s parking and valet entrance.

FROM OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT & EAST BAY
1. From Airport Drive, turn right onto Hegenberger Road.
3. Take the I-880 North ramp toward Downtown Oakland.
4. Take the I-80 West exit on the left toward San Francisco/Bay Bridge (toll).
6. Exit via Fifth Street ramp to Golden Gate Bridge and US-101 North.
7. Continue on Fifth Street, which becomes Cyril Magnin Street after your cross Market Street.
8. Turn left on Ellis Street and then right into hotel’s parking and valet entrance.

FROM NORTH BAY
1. Take US-101 South toward San Francisco.
2. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge (toll).
3. Turn right onto Van Ness Avenue / US-101.
4. Turn left onto O’Farrell Street.
5. Turn right onto Cyril Magnin Street.
6. Turn right onto Ellis Street.
7. Turn right into hotel’s parking and valet entrance.

TCWF TRAVEL STIPENDS
A limited number of stipends are available to help cover the cost of travel and accommodations for those outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. To apply for a stipend, please read the travel stipend policies and register no later than Friday, September 16, 2011.
