Anita Siegel worked for the Alameda County Public Health Department for over twenty years as acting director and deputy director of operations. She has worked to address health inequities by addressing the social determinants of health and supported those programs that address chronic disease prevention and health promotion, including participating in the Department’s Community Capacity Building Initiative and working with the County’s Health Care for the Homeless Program and Perinatal Substance Abuse Committee.
Anita also has extensive experience in international work. That work includes serving as the Health and Population Officer for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Honduras; as a family planning consultant in Jamaica, Thailand, and Indonesia; and a 2-year assignment with the Peace Corps. She also participated in sister city health initiatives exchange programs with Snezhinsk, Russia and Ganja, Azerbaijan.
