As an executive director, how do you powerfully lead your organization through complex challenges?  How do you align your organization, staff, and board around impact and achieve financial sustainability? As daunting as these questions can seem, they are fundamental executive leadership responsibilities.

ED 101 offers an executive-level curriculum of frameworks and tools covering key leadership, management, and strategy content that give executive directors the confidence to deal with the challenges that face nonprofits. This 4-day program will draw on research, the experience and knowledge of CompassPoint’s leading experts, and the collective wisdom of the participants to create a powerful space to think creatively, try on fresh ideas, learn new strategies, and identify action steps to confidently lead yourself and your organization.

Over the course of four days, participants will engage in topics including:

  • Practices of effective leadership;
  • Performance and staff management;
  • Organizational sustainability: linking strategy and finance;
  • Building effective boards: roles, responsibilities, and powerful partners;
  • Revenue and fund development.

This Executive Director 101 is right for you if:

  • You are a new executive directors/CEO. Note: by the time of the class it’s required for you to have attended at least one board meeting as the ED and have been in the position for at least 3 months;
  • You are an experienced executive director who wants to deepen your leadership and management practice and strengthen your organization;
  • You are an executive director who is open to other’s ideas, excited to learn with peers, and ready to share your experience as an ED with others.

ED 101 is for executive directors/CEOs that are currently in that position.  If you are not currently an executive director, consider enrolling in our Nonprofit Management Institute, or participate in a future ED 101 session once you’ve met all the requirements.  If you have any questions, please contact us at workshops@compasspoint.org.
