Support the CompassPoint 40 Campaign
We're celebrating 40 years of CompassPoint and 40 years of working together toward social change with the launch of the CompassPoint 40 Campaign. We invite you to support this campaign to fuel the next chapter of our transformative work: building a diverse group of leaders and capacity-building practitioners, developing new methodologies to support leaders working in profoundly different ways, and bringing you the big ideas and research that ignite new insights and move our field forward together. Help us start off strong: donate here.
We are excited to announce that the David and Lucile Packard Foundation is offering a generous matching challenge grant of up to $100,000 in connection with this campaign. That means that when you donate, the Packard Foundation will match your contribution to CompassPoint, effectively doubling the impact of your giving! Make your contribution here.
Presenting Our Annual Report
What do you need to break through? Breaking Through is the theme of our just-released annual report in which we share inspiring stories of client breakthroughs, highlight some of our own recent breakthroughs, and present a colorful collage of the breakthroughs we’ve supported, partnered on, and are still striving toward. We're also excited to share our new Theory of Change, a conceptual map that drives our practice's approach to supporting social change. Explore the report here
Is Your Board as Inclusive as It Should Be?
More than ever, nonprofits are making an effort to be intentional about board diversity and creating inclusive practices, yet diversity data around race, ethnicity, and age continue to be flat-out appalling (see the recent report Leading with Intent for more on this). CompassPoint governance consultant and trainer Marla Cornelius analyzes this disconnect between intention and results and proposes some radical steps boards can take to close the gap. Read the blog here.
Attend these governance workshops and get your board set up for success:
- Recruit the Board Your Organization Needs (January 22, 2016)
- Building Successful Boards Part 1: Governance, Roles and Responsibilities and Powerful Partnerships (February 22, 2016)
- Building Successful Boards Part 2 (April 26, 2016)
Get Grounded in Strengths-based Leadership
Our recent report Working from Strengths to End Domestic Violence, though focused on the domestic violence field, is an excellent primer for any nonprofit on the basics of the strengths framework and how organizations have successfully integrated it into their leadership. The report includes a very extensive multi-page selection of resources. Access the report and resources here.
If you’re ready to explore a strengths-based leadership approach within your organization, attend the workshop, Using Strengths for Personal, Staff, and Team Development. Participants will explore how managers can use strengths-based supervision to motivate staff, increase productivity, and strengthen interpersonal relationships. Register here.
