Building Successful Boards Part 1
In part one of this two-part series, this course is designed for board members, executive directors, and senior staff who are interested in deepening their understanding of nonprofit governance and better aligning the work of the board to heighten board engagement and maximize its impact. We'll discuss the purpose of nonprofit governance and the board’s legal obligations; multiculturalism and the impact of power on board culture and group dynamics; specific roles and responsibilities of board members; and how to create a powerful leadership partnership among the Board and Executive Director. You will also leave with a board toolkit which includes a set of sample templates and tools to create your first board handbook or update your current one.
