Transformational Supervision I: Grounding in Relationships and Structures That Help Us Thrive (2-Part Series)

This is a live, online event where you’ll participate actively with other attendees!

Registration for this training is offered on a sliding scale depending on your individual and organizational access to financial resources. Our sliding scale is an intentional effort to distribute resources equitably between organizations and individuals we work with. If your personal or organizational budget allows, please pay the Sustain or Redistribution cost so we can keep registration accessible for leaders and organizations who may not be in the same position. Greater access strengthens us all!

When you think of supervision, what comes to mind?

What feelings does it evoke?

Many of us have been conditioned to think that a “successful” supervisor must exercise dominant power -- control, manipulation, or coercion -- over others. We believe that our primary functions as supervisors are to manage tasks, enforce rules, manage one’s behavior, and/or exert authority. Transformational Supervision offers another way.  It’s an invitation to see supervision as a system and relational process that supports growth and mutual thriving for the organization and all of its employees.

This is not about one-size-fits-all answers. Nor is it a space for us to tell/show you how it’s done. We are creating space to pause, reflect, and begin practicing new ways of leading that honor who we are, where we come from, and the liberatory future we are working to build.

This space is for you if you are...

  • A new(er) supervisor looking for support in developing your supervisory practice
  • A seasoned supervisor ready to move away from tired, oppressive systems and approaches that are not working
  • A leader in a nonprofit and/or movement space who longs for supervision practices that reflect your values and lived experience

In this online workshop, you will:

  1. Recognize how transformational commitments and practices can be an antidote to white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism within supervision
  2. Identify how power intersects with supervision and explore the dominant and liberatory power framework
  3. Gain skills (setting expectations and sharing feedback) to incorporate into your supervision practices
