About Jas
[Pronouns: any]
Jas Hall is the Executive Director at CompassPoint. In the context of shared leadership in a self-managing organization structure, the Executive Director role takes on the highest level of accountability in ensuring that CompassPoint is values-driven, sustainable, and ultimately impactful in supporting leaders.
She brings a wealth of expertise and experience in organizational leadership and HR management to this role, including creating innovative HR solutions, enhancing employee engagement, and implementing best practices that promote equity and accessibility.
Additionally, Jas is a program designer and facilitator. In this role, she is known for holding interactive spaces that blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills-building. Leading with heart is her superpower. She is adept at guiding participants through courageous conversations about power and privilege and helping them build critical skills to address systemic inequities and cultivate safe spaces for folks at the margins to thrive.
As a Black mama, it’s Jas’ personal mission to contribute to a better world for future generations. Born and raised in Oakland, she had firsthand experience with oppressive systems/institutions and their impact on her community. That experience, along with her deep love and strong conviction for Justice (iykyk), is what fuels her passion for pro-Black work.
While Jas understands the value of institutional learning and rigor, she also recognizes that one can't achieve this mission with formal education alone. She studied Sociology at San Diego State University, but she draws heavily on previous work and life experiences, community connections, and ancestral wisdom in her leadership at CompassPoint.
