Facilitation Skills: Creating Inclusive and Purposeful Meetings
This is an online event. We will send login information two days before the event, so please make sure you enter your email correctly.
Registration for this event is offered on a sliding scale. If your personal or organizational budget allows you to, please consider paying the full fee so we can keep registration accessible for leaders and organizations who may not be in the same position. Greater access strengthens us all!
Meetings! We’ve all experienced what it’s like when they go wrong: frustrating conversations that go nowhere and leave people feeling disempowered.
Do you have the skills it takes to plan a meeting, get the right voices in the room, and guide conversations toward meaningful goals? What role does race, gender, power, and privilege play in meetings? How can you wield power to create more inclusive meetings that unlock everyone’s gifts and contributions?
This online workshop is a space to start unlearning some ineffective meeting habits and practice something new.
This is a space for people who work at nonprofit organizations and / or in social justice movement spaces with some experience facilitating and who want to make facilitation choices that reflect their values.
In this online workshop, you will:
Learn how to use the “purpose, outcome, and process” (P.O.P) format to design an upcoming meeting
Reflect on your own identity and lived experience and how it shapes your approach to designing inclusive meetings
Learn about strategies for interrupting oppressive power dynamics during meetings
This is a multi-day event. Please make sure you can attend all dates before registering! Before registering, make sure you are familiar with our cancellation policy.
Accessibility is very important to us! If you require specific accommodations (for example, receiving screen-reader friendly versions of learning materials ahead of time), please notify us at least a week in advance of the scheduled event by email@example.com) so that we can do our best to meet your needs. Closed captioning and ASL interpretation is not provided unless requested.
