Conflict Resolution Practice Pods: Building Skills for Generative Conflict

CONFLICT RESOLUTION PRACTICE PODS:

BUILDING SKILLS FOR GENERATIVE CONFLICT

Conflict is inevitable and necessary, yet many of us have been taught to be afraid of it while never being taught how to address it skillfully. Even in the social change sector, where people and relationships are prioritized, we often struggle when it comes to conflict resolution between individuals and organizations. When we reframe conflict as an opportunity for powerful change, it can lead us to deepened connections with our co-workers and comrades, and clarity in vision for the world we are trying to win.

This three-part online learning series (plus 1 optional BIPOC-only session) builds on concepts from CompassPoint's Conflict Resolution with Power and Privilege in Mind workshop and offers a supportive peer learning space for strengthening conflict resilience and practicing conflict resolution skills.

This series is open to anyone who wishes to deepen their skills and practices around engaging in generative conflict with others.

Training participants will:

  • Build increased capacity to navigate conflict and change while being mindful of power dynamics
  • Connect with a community of likeminded peers who have a shared goal of conflict transformation
  • Deepen their conflict resolution skills by practicing listening, inquiry, and empathy

Get ready to participate! Our virtual trainings come alive with everyone's participation and willingness to engage. Please come prepared to share your experiences, creativity, questions, and challenges with us and each other. While the first session will ground folks in the frameworks and skills introduced in the Conflict Resolution with Power and Privilege in Mind workshop, the final two sessions will mainly be focused on applying the skills and knowledge acquired through critical reflection, practice, and action.

Please note: This is a three-part series (with 1 optional, additional session for Black, Indigenous, and people of color) that takes place on Zoom in Pacific time. Check dates carefully before you commit to make sure you can attend all parts.

Accessibility is very important to us! Closed captioning will be provided. If you require specific accommodations (for example, receiving screen reader-friendly versions of learning materials ahead of time), please notify us at workshops@compasspoint.org two weeks in advance of the scheduled offering so that we can do our best to meet your needs. ASL interpretation is not provided unless requested.
