TRANSFORMATIONAL SUPERVISION
LEARNING COMMUNITY:
LIBERATORY PRACTICE IN ACTION
In Transformational Supervision: Grounding in Relationships and Structures That Help Us Thrive, we grounded ourselves in the transformational supervision framework, explored the ways power shows up in our relationships, and practiced setting expectations and giving feedback.
This Learning Community will focus on deepening our practical application of the transformational supervision framework. How are we applying the transformational supervision framework in our day-to-day work as supervisors? This three-session learning community, held over three weeks, is designed as a space to build our skills by deepening our practice of cultivating a culture of feedback, creating psychological safety, and exercising power in alignment with our pro-Black liberatory values.
Together, we’ll discuss and unpack (and in some cases, unlearn/release) the ways our identities and experiences impact how we show up as leaders. You will identify approaches that fit your unique leadership style and honor who you are, where you come from, and what transformational supervision looks and feels like for you.
This series is for you if you are:
- A past participant of the Transformational Supervision workshop, looking to deepen your supervision practice even further
- A seasoned supervisor ready to move away from tired, oppressive systems and approaches that are not working
- A supervisor (for 6 months or longer) in a nonprofit and/or movement space who longs for supervision practices that reflect your values and lived experience
As a participant, you will:
- deepen your understanding of the Transformational Supervision framework
- practice tools and techniques for self-regulation and grounded leadership to support your supervisory practice
- understand the frameworks of psychological safety and liberatory/dominating power and how to apply these frameworks in a transformational supervisory relationship
- practice applying Transformational Supervision and liberatory practices to complex scenarios, offering and receiving peer coaching to strengthen individual and collective leadership capacity
Note: This is the next offering in our Transformational Supervision series. If you have not participated in a Supervision workshop at CompassPoint since 2020, please attend our Transformational Supervision: Grounding in Relationships and Structures That Help Us Thrive workshop before participating in this learning community.
Get ready to participate! Our virtual trainings come alive with everyone's participation and willingness to engage. Please come prepared to share your experiences, creativity, questions, and challenges with us and each other. There will be a mix of small and large group discussions, sharing and trying on tangible tools, practicing somatics-based exercises (grounding in the body), art and music, storytelling, political education, celebration, and more!
Accessibility is very important to us! Closed captioning will be provided. If you require specific accommodations, please notify us at workshops@compasspoint.org two weeks in advance of the scheduled offering so that we can do our best to meet your needs. ASL interpretation is not provided unless requested.
