How You Be? Radical Visioning as Black Leaders

HOW YOU BE?

RADICAL VISIONING AS BLACK LEADERS

Black folks need and deserve the space to dream and envision new worlds.  We are seeing those in power try to push us further away from Bold, Black visioning, while white supremacy is center stage through increased racist media, increased legislation attacking our most vulnerable communities, and ICE officers kidnapping and killing our community members. Now more than ever, we need each other, and we need space to dream of the future where we are safe and thriving.

When Black folks step into greater power and responsibility, we often inherit old visions and outdated traditions of enacting leadership that don't necessarily align with or fully capture our brilliance, values, and potential. Furthermore, Black leaders generally have few opportunities to commune with our peers or receive thought partnership on shared day-to-day struggles.

This learning community provides the time, spaciousness, peer support, and resources for Black people in leadership to grow our creativity and vision in order to reground in our purpose and increase our transformative impact on the organizations, communities, and movements we lead.

This is a space to connect and build community with other Black leaders to create and refine your visions for the future, explore your purpose, and garner ancestral  + daily self-care practices to support your personal sustainability. Together we will also unpack how oppression impacts our relationship to power and map out tangible next steps for materializing our visions of leadership.

This series is open to Black people in leadership roles who can impact transformational change within their organizations, communities, and movements. This offering is for Black folks only.

As a participant, you will:

  • Engage in a supportive Black community that helps you unlearn the limiting scripts of white supremacy culture, patriarchy, and capitalism
  • Identify and interrogate your powerful & powerless identities
  • Develop and deepen a somatics practice
  • Draw from ancestral wisdom and wisdom from nature to fuel your leadership
  • Create and chart your visions for leadership using two tools: Story of the Future and Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Get ready to participate! Our virtual trainings come alive with everyone's participation and willingness to engage. Please come prepared to share your experiences, creativity, questions, and challenges with us and each other. There will be a mix of small and large group discussions, sharing and trying on tangible tools, practicing somatics-based exercises (grounding in the body), art and music, storytelling, political education, celebration, and more!

Accessibility is very important to us! Closed captioning will be provided. If you require specific accommodations, please notify us at workshops@compasspoint.org two weeks in advance of the scheduled offering so that we can do our best to meet your needs. ASL interpretation is not provided unless requested.
