Supervision for BIPOC Leaders: Relationships and Structures That Help Us Thrive (2-Part Series)

Registration for this training is offered on a sliding scale. If your personal or organizational budget allows, please pay the full fee so we can keep registration accessible for leaders and organizations who may not be in the same position. Greater access strengthens us all!

When you think of supervision, what comes to mind? No doubt, those ideas have been deeply shaped by power dynamics and wider cultural narratives we’re all swimming in. 

Supervision is both a structure and a relational practice that keeps us accountable to others and helps us grow. Many of us have been conditioned to think that supervision means having power over others instead of building power with others--but when we supervise in a way that breaks with narratives from the dominant white supremacist culture, we open the door to mutual flourishing.

 

Who is this training for?

As leaders in nonprofit organizations, we’re often tasked with supervising others, but rarely given time and space to explore how we want to show up in these relationships and what we should really focus on. This training is most relevant for leaders in nonprofits and social justice movement spaces who are responsible for supervising others. Leaders who are new supervisors (in particular) will find this training useful--although we also invite folks who want to deepen their understanding, or even reimagine their approach to supervision as well.
 

In this online workshop, you will:

  1. Recognize how liberatory and transformational commitments and practices can be an antidote to white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism within supervision
     

  2. Identify how the four types of power intersect with supervision
     

  1. Gain skills (setting expectations and sharing feedback) to incorporate into your supervision practices

Our trainings come alive with your participation and willingness to engage. Please be ready to participate in group discussions and share your experience, creativity, questions, and challenges with us.  We’ll share visual and verbal information, practice feedback skills, and make space for personal reflection and group discussions.

 

 

This is a multi-day offering. Please make sure you can attend all dates before registering and that you are familiar with our cancellation policy.
